but only if dedicating a weapon only means it cannot be displayed in another HoM.

you'd still need to customize it to get the +20% damage bonus.

i'm planning on getting every weapon anyway, even if that does mean my warrior ends up with some odd weapons she doesn't need (i'll put them on my most used heroes).

Agreed, not only because this would make a bit more convenience for the destroyer weapons, but because it would save hundreds of platinum to max out the halls of different characters on your account. Each one costs around 100k, including costs of materials. 11 weapons X 100k=1100k per character. Making them dedicated rather than customized would help there.
